Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I thought I would share with you a few pictures from my weekend.

It was filled with lots of food. Moderation sure was hard but I preached it all week at work so I tried my hardest to practice it.

Thursday I went to my Dads and spent the day with him. I made a pumpkin pie to take!

I found the idea to do the braded crust off of Pinterest. I’m addicted!

Friday my sister and her husband CJ came over to my mom’s to watch the Razorback game. Mom made chicken and dumplings!

Saturday we went over to my Grandmothers house for Thanksgiving with my mom’s side.

We always have a good time at Grandmothers. She always goes over the top with her tab top decorations Aren't they perfect?! I was so excited that Ashley and William joined us as well.

We also celebrated Grandmothers birthday. My sister, Jamie made her cake.

My Grandmother is the cutest Grandmother ever!

We then celebrated our third Thanksgiving with my Mimi and Grandpa on Sunday at Cracker Barrel!

When my sister and I get together we always have Moses and her dog Zoey. They are like brother and sister!

It was a great Thanksgiving weekend. I always love going home and being with my family.

I put my tree up Sunday night. It smells like cinnamon in my house right now! I love the holidays!

Day 1–Have a Headache Already

Happy New Year to everyone! Day 1 of the detox started today. It’s been pretty tough,I’m not gonna lie. I went to Whole Foods and Walmart yesterday to get all the fruits and vegetables I needed for the week. I’ve had a headache all day due to the lack of caffeine. I really don’t drink but maybe a cup and a half of coffee and a glass of tea a day. But I sure did miss it today. This morning I got up to help in the nursery at church. I made the Antioxidant smoothie. You can find the recipe here . It was really good, a little tart but not bad. When I got to the church I got a cup of unsweetened green tea (no caffeine) so I could convince myself it was a cup of coffee. The tea and smoothie held me over till about 11:30. I made a nice little salad for lunch with water with of couple apples thrown in. My salad had spinach, avocado, cucumbers, carrots, cherry tomatoes, and pumpkin seeds dressed with balsamic vinaigrette I did get pretty hungry this afternoon so I made the roasted chi...

I love Almond Butter

Hello again! It’s been a busy day for me today but it’s been a good food day. ;) The blender worked out a little better for me this morning. I guess it just needed a little using before I got used to it. I started today with an Energy Smoothie. It was really good. It was my first time trying the spice Cardamom. Energy Smoothie ½ C Almond Butter 1 Teaspoon Ground Cardamom 1 ½ C water 1 C Frozen Peaches 1 to 2 Teaspoons of Agave ½ C Ice I cut this recipe in half. The Cardamom was pretty noticeable. It’s hard to describe but it was a little like cinnamon. I loved the Almond butter. I tried a new brand this time. It was very creaming right out of the refrigerator. I drank most of the smoothie on my way to work. I was pretty hungry when I woke up this morning.  Lacey enjoyed the Mango Smoothe today. Isn't she cute! I had a cup of hot green tea about 8:30. It hit the spot! The smoothie held me over till about 11. When lunch time came around I was hungry. I had to take a quick lunch...

Vanilla Bean Almond Butter

I don’t know about you but I LOVE nut butters. I have never made my own because I didn’t realize out easy it was. I’m telling ya, everyone can make nut butter as long as you have a decent food processor and there's not turning back. I’ve had some left over vanilla beans from the vanilla I made a while back and wanted to use them, so I decided to use them in the almond butter. I made this about a week ago and it’s already half gone! It’s like a yummy creamy dessert. Once you try fresh pure nut butters you will never go back to store bought. Only 3 ingredients and no added oils! So here it goes: Start out by toasting your almonds until they start to smell yummy. Pour your almonds in the food processer and start to process. You will need to process for 8 to 10 minutes and stop several times to scrape down the sides, so be patient. Stage 1 Stage 2- Powder Stage 3-The natural oil starts to come out and its starts to ball up. Stage 4-Almost there, just a f...
